Moving to Stand Still

Have you ever noticed that whenever you’re newly single, everyone you see is in a couple? It’s a pain in the ass and i hate it but it seems to be true.

It’s been over a month now, and other than a lovely call after a week telling to get tested for STI’s (which i did and i am fine and clear) i have heard nothing from the ex. Which is good actually. I’m not sure i want to know how he’s doing so well without me and it was a great decision.

When it first happened i consoled myself in the fact that he would come crawling back and realise he’d been an idiot…but now i don’t really want him to unless he deals with his underlying issues first. i can’t go through another year of dealing with him, handling him and putting myself second to his illnesses.

So, i am now choosily single and not looking!

Today I am feeling…that life goes on even when you hit the stop button

This week…i have started to make decisions

By next week…I will be nearly on holidays

Did you know…On this day in 1937 – Aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan disappeared over the Pacific Ocean during an attempt to make a circumnavigational flight.

Miscellaneous other things include…the office kettle broke, after the 2 hot water machines, i think we are destined to drink cold drinks

Blog of the week is Lemon Gloria

Recommended Band of the week is Nine Inch Nails

Nine Inch Nails (abbreviated as NIN) is an American post-industrial music group, founded in 1988 by Trent Reznor in Cleveland, Ohio. As its main producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Reznor is the only official member of Nine Inch Nails and remains solely responsible for its direction. NIN’s music straddles a wide range of genres, while retaining a characteristic sound using electronic instruments and processing. After recording a new album, Reznor usually assembles a live band to perform with him. The touring band features a revolving lineup that often rearranges songs to fit a live setting. On stage, NIN often employ spectacular visual elements to accompany performances, which frequently include mesmerizing light shows.

Underground music audiences warmly received Nine Inch Nails in its early years. The band produced several highly influential records in the 1990s that achieved widespread popularity; many Nine Inch Nails songs became radio hits, two NIN recordings won Grammy Awards, and the band has sold over 20 million albums worldwide, with 10.5 million sales certified in the US alone. In 1997, Reznor appeared in Time magazine’s list of the year’s most influential people, and Spin magazine described him as “the most vital artist in music.” In 2004, Rolling Stone placed Nine Inch Nails at 94 on its list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. Despite this acclaim, the band has had several feuds with the corporate side of the recording industry. In 2007, these corporate entanglements resulted in Reznor announcing that Nine Inch Nails would split from its label and release future material independently.

Since 1989, Nine Inch Nails has made eight major studio releases. The most recent releases, Ghosts I–IV and The Slip, both released in 2008, were released under Creative Commons licenses. Both were initially released digitally, with physical releases coming later. The digital release of The Slip was made available completely free of charge. NIN has been nominated for twelve Grammy Awards and won twice for the songs “Wish” and “Happiness in Slavery”, in 1992 and 1995 respectively.

As i said yesterday i have a load of thoughts running through my head at the moment

Yesterday was about quitting the gym, today i’m thinking about other changes i can make in my life to do things for me. I’ve already started making waves with regards to my music, setting up (basic) recording facilities and tentatively looking for a band to join locally so t hat’s a step in the right direction. I think i need to get more organised about my studying habits, especially considering i only have 2 more courses to go before i complete my batchelors degree and they are going to be the hardest ones to do.

So to that end, i have already started cutting back on my internet sites. A few months ago i ditched facebook and about 5 band forums and i’ve recently left my book group as well. It’s summer so there’s nothing on TV to watch, so i theoretically have plenty of time to get myself sorted.

I’m very bad at time management, i work best when i have an imminent deadline for something whether its people coming so i have to clean or an essay due so i have to write, but i need to develop some structure and a plan of how to get things done before they become massively pressing, so that if something comes up i can deal with it properly.

Any tips on being more scholastically and generally organised?
